Fun Pictures

Andrei's favorite inside activity is drawing. This is a picture of his "cocodile". : )

He loves spending time outside, so we now have a back yard full of fun. We have a plastic pool, Randell made a huge sandbox, and Madison got a trampoline for her birthday. The yard is a mess, but he loves it, and we are all enjoying the fun!

Cousin Mathew is holding Andrei. He is loving it!

So great to see "my" Andrei having fun at home! He was my first prayer warrior assignment and will always have a special place in my heart. :)

"Grady"

Boy, Born May 14, 2007

SO happy to finally have new photos of Grady! He is just as adorable as I always thought. Blonde hair and bright blue eyes! What a snuggable and happy little boy! Grady was born with arthrogryposis of his lower limbs. His hands and arms are unaffected. He is not able to walk at this time. He is 3 now, and will so greatly benefit from surgery, therapy, and loving family to encourage him! Without this, he will remain bedridden for the rest of his life.

Grady is completely typically developing cognitively. He is described as very social and smart, talkative, playful, and active. He has no cognitive delays or speech problems whatsoever.

Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC)

"Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) is a congenital condition that occurs 1 in every 3,000 live births. It's characterized by multiple joint contractures. Joint contractures are when the joints don't have normal range of motion, they are stiff. Affected individuals usually also have muscle weakness. Every joint in the body can be affected including the jaw & back. The range of severity is very wide, some people don't look affected while others have to rely on a powerchair for mobility. Most individuals with AMC have normal intelligence. It is a non-progressive condition. There are about 400 types of AMC. Some types are sporadic in nature while others are genetic. Amyoplasia is the most common type affecting approx. 43% of all people with the diagnosis. This is a life-long condition but with quality treatment most individuals become independent adults. Treatment often includes serial casting & splinting to increase range of motion, physical & occupational therapy to strengthen muscles & surgery to correct more rigid deformities."
